1. What information CripGuard collects
CripGuard is a Discord bot that helps servers manage safety. It only accesses the information necessary to perform its functions. Typical items that may be accessed or stored:
- Server & guild ID, channel IDs and role IDs used to configure actions (local config file only).
- User IDs and usernames when a report, appeal, or administrative action is logged.
- Local logs for moderation actions: timestamps, action type (ban/kick), and optional reason.
CripGuard does not collect private keys, DM contents (except appeals if the user explicitly messages the bot), or any payment data.
2. How we use information
Information is used only to run the bot features and help server staff moderate effectively:
- Maintain a server-local blacklist (CripList) to prevent known malicious accounts from rejoining.
- Send staff alerts (to a configured staff channel) when a flagged user joins or an appeal is received.
- Record simple reports/appeals in local JSON files to assist manual review.
All data is stored locally on the server where the bot runs (files like guildConfig.json, cripList.json). No telemetry is sent to third-party analytics by default.
3. Sharing & third parties
CripGuard only shares information within Discord servers where it is relevant, such as posting reports to designated staff channels. We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal data under any circumstances.
4. Security measures
Basic security best practices include:
- Config files stored locally and readable only to the operating account running the bot.
- Discord permission model: ensure the bot is given only the permissions it needs.
5. Your rights & data control
If you are a server administrator:
- You can delete or modify local bot files (e.g., remove an entry from
cripList.json).
- To stop data collection completely, remove the bot from your server and delete the local JSON files created by the bot instance.
- If an individual requests removal of their data, the server admin can remove the relevant entries from the JSON files.
6. How to open a ticket
Kindly go to our tickets channel, and click the button to Open A Ticket, once opened a member of staff will assist you when they can.
7. Appeals
If you have been banned and believe this was in error, or wish to request an unban, please DM CripGuard with /appeal. While this will not appear as a standard command, it will submit an appeal form to our staff. If your appeal is accepted, the bot will provide a questionnaire, after which the staff will review your submission and determine the next steps.
